In 2005 His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales visited the Peak District and met a number of small family farmers.  His conversations with them inspired the creation of the Peak Choice co-operative, suppliers of premium quality beef and lamb direct from Peak District farms.

Our ethos is to deliver the highest quality Peak District beef and lamb with the highest standards of animal welfare and environmental benefit. Peak Choice farmers are paid a premium over market prices to help sustain the traditional farming methods used in the Peak District i.e. extensive grass fed animals, not intensively reared indoor systems. All our farmers are part of nationally recognised Farm Assurance and Environmental schemes. All your Peak Choice beef and lamb will have the farmer's name that reared the animal on every pack, giving you ultimate traceability of the provenance of your meat.

Supplying your beef and lamb from local Peak District farmers and keeping it “Local” also means using local abattoirs. None of our animals are put through stressful livestock markets and there is only a maximum journey time of 30 minutes to the abattoir, this also results in minimal food miles from farm gate to plate!
